Season in Stuart, FL

I have lived here for many years, yet I have never grown tired of looking at the beautiful waterways in this area. Stuart has a terrific downtown known for its charming small-town atmosphere and historic architecture. This area has

  • antique stores
  • art galleries
  • unique specialty shops
  • restaurants, and cafes.

The Stuart Green Market comes alive every Sunday from 8 am – 12 or until 2p in season which is typically from January – March and it is free. There are water views in this area, located right on the St. Lucie River to enjoy the breezes and watch the boats go by.

At The Stuart Green Market you’ll find:

  • local produce
  • plants
  • flowers
  • handmade crafts
  • jewelry
  • and other products
  • food vendors
  • baked goods
  • sandwiches
  • and other treats.

In addition to shopping, the Stuart Green Market is also a popular place for people to sit and enjoy live music.  The market often features local musicians and bands, providing a festive atmosphere for visitors.

There are always families with young children enjoying the playground and also this is a dog-friendly area!

The one thing I cherish about this small town is the friendly people.  Just talking and looking at the wares in this most beautiful setting is extraordinary.  The temperatures in the winter are usually in the low 70’s, bright blue sky and a slight wind. I truly could stay there all day if I didn’t have some things to do.

Downtown Stuart, FL Things To Do

The Stuart Heritage Museum which is a great place to learn about the history of Stuart and the Treasure Coast region of Florida.  If you are interested in local history or just looking for something interesting to do in Stuart, this is another great place to come, and it’s ALSO FREE.

You’ll notice other historical buildings in Downtown Stuart along the St. Lucie River that are well-maintained.  There’s the Stuart Post office, a historic building built in 1935 and is currently the home to Café Martier where, they have an excellent brunch, happy hour, food, and entertainment.  As you continue down the street, you will pass the Lyric Theater, a historic building built in 1926 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The newly renovated 500-seat theater is a great venue for all sorts of great shows from acting to music that comes to this area.

If you decide to stay for a while, each Sunday, there is a band on the Stuart Riverwalk next to the Boathouse Restaurant where you can enjoy the band of the day.  It could be Jazz, rock, or country, depending on the week.  There is nothing like sitting by the water and taking in the entertainment.

In addition, this area is known for its 22 miles of beautiful beaches, waterways, and 77 parks and is called the Sailfish Capitol of the world.  We have all sorts of fishing, from recreational to deep sea. Don’t have a boat, no problem, surf fishing is prevalent in this area, and if you have the equipment, it’s almost free after the cost of some bait.

Remember I mentioned one thing you need to consider when coming to Stuart?

However, we have a tram that will pick you up and take you to this area, making parking a little bit further not too bad.  Click here for the info for the tram, there’s even an APP!  Now you know there are lots of free fun things to do in this area, I barely hit the surface.
